Success isn’t measured by the buildings you leave behind, but by the people you inspire along the way.”
CAREER JOURNEY
Why did you choose the construction industry?
My dad, stepdad, and uncle all worked in construction. My dad and uncle spent their careers at one of San Francisco’s oldest construction companies, and I would help out during the summers. That’s where I fell in love with the smell of sawdust in the shop and developed an appreciation for the grit, craftsmanship, and problem-solving that define this industry.
What project are you most proud of, and why?
I’m most proud of helping establish and grow operations in the Sacramento market. While I’ve had the opportunity to lead many successful projects throughout my career, building a team, earning clients’ trust, and creating new opportunities in a growing region has been the most rewarding. For me, it’s about more than constructing buildings—it’s about building lasting relationships and creating something that continues to grow long after the project is complete.
What’s one skill you’ve developed that has made the biggest impact on your career?
Building relationships. Construction is a people business, and my success has been built on earning trust, communicating openly, and bringing owners, architects, trade partners, and project teams together. Strong relationships are the foundation of successful projects.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always do the right thing, even when it’s the difficult choice. Your reputation takes years to build but can be lost in a moment. Lead with integrity, take accountability, and treat people with respect—those qualities will open more doors than any title or accomplishment ever will.

LEADERSHIP & TEAMWORK
Why do you think people join and stay at SC Builders?
I believe people join SC Builders because they want to make an impact. They stay because of the culture. SC Builders invests in its people, fosters collaboration, and provides opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. When employees feel trusted, supported, and valued, they’re more engaged, motivated, and invested in the company’s success. That’s the kind of environment where careers are built—not just projects. I stay because I have the opportunity to work alongside some of the best people in the industry!
What does great leadership mean to you?
Great leadership is about leaving people better than you found them. It’s about listening before speaking, leading by example, making difficult decisions with integrity, and investing in the growth and success of others.
What motivates you?
People. At the end of the day, the buildings we construct and the services we provide are important, but it’s the relationships we build and the people we help develop that leave the greatest legacy. I would run through a brick wall for my team at SC Builders, and that’s what motivates me every day!
What do you enjoy most about working with clients and project teams?
Construction is one of the few industries where success truly depends on teamwork. I enjoy bringing together different perspectives, building trust, and working toward a shared vision. Seeing a project come to life alongside people who are passionate about what they do is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
BUILDING SACRAMENTO
What makes the Sacramento construction market unique compared to other regions you’ve worked in?
Sacramento offers a unique balance of opportunity and collaboration. As one of California’s fastest-growing markets, it continues to see significant investment in healthcare, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and commercial development. At the same time, it maintains a close-knit construction community where relationships matter. It’s a market where innovation, collaboration, and long-term partnerships can have a meaningful impact on the region’s continued growth.
What do you enjoy most about living and working in the Sacramento region?
I enjoy the strong sense of community that Sacramento offers. It has the energy and opportunity of a growing market while maintaining a collaborative, relationship-driven culture. Professionally, it’s rewarding to be part of shaping the region’s continued growth. Personally, Sacramento has been an incredible place for my family. The quality of life—with easy access to the mountains, lakes, and the Bay Area—is hard to beat. More importantly, my son has made more friends here than he did back home, and the people who have welcomed us have made Sacramento truly feel like home.
What trend in construction are you most excited about?
I’m excited about the continued growth of advanced technology, healthcare, and life sciences construction, as well as the increasing use of technology to enhance collaboration and project delivery. While tools and innovation will continue to evolve, I believe the greatest opportunity lies in leveraging them to improve safety, increase efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for our clients.
