Welcome Summer Interns

Young Construction Professionals Join SC Builders for the Summer

Meet our awesome group of interns.

Chris Copriviza

Chico State, Class of 2021
Major: Construction Management

Chris is the youngest of four siblings and loves to play golf and soccer with his family. Construction runs in his family, and his brother is studying CM at Chico, too.

Tell us about a cool project you worked on in school.

I built a house using SketchUp. It was really neat to have the freedom to make anything I wanted, deciding everything from the shape of the building to what kind of concrete and materials to use. It was a difficult program, but it’s certainly a useful tool and it was gratifying to advance my skills.

Fun fact – Best Concert: Kanye West
Fun fact – Dream vacation? To travel to Croatia with my family to see my cousins again.

Emily Gonzalez

Cal Poly, Class of 2021
Major: Construction Management

Emily is an athlete who ran track in high school and still enjoys running today. She also loves drawing and painting; she and her roommate even watercolor together: they have a whole wall full of their paintings.

What motivates you about a career in construction?

I’ve always been into art, so naturally I was attracted to the design-centric nature of a career in architecture. I was initially declared as an architectural engineering major, but later found that construction management was a better fit because I love how it involves talking with people and forming relationships.

I’m also super motivated by the fact that construction is still largely a male-dominated field. I want to prove people wrong! It really drives me to work hard and succeed.

Fun fact – Words to live by: Live life, don’t let life live you
Fun fact – Dream Vacation: Paris

Selena Rosales

Chico State, Class of 2020
Major: Concrete Industry Management

Selena has been playing soccer ever since she was a little girl and still plays for fun today on the intramural and city league in Chico.

Why SC Builders?

My cousin, Jose Rosales, is a Project Engineer here at SCBI and he shared with me all about their great work and positive environment. The pre-session and interview at Chico State was awesome. It was so comfortable and conversational – it just felt natural. I strongly believe that the people you work with and the environment can make work much more enjoyable. I knew I would fit right in and have the ability to thrive.

Fun Fact – Something you’re proud of? Being a first-generation college student.
Fun Fact – Words to live by: Practice makes permanent.

Brandon Roscoe

Chico State, Class of 2020
Major: Construction Management

Brandon loves going camping, has played rugby for 11 years, and is a huge fan of the LA Chargers and SF Giants.

If the firm you worked for made front-page headlines in 10 years for achieving something impressive, what would you like that achievement to be?

Safety. Everyone’s got families, and everyone wants to go home at the end of the day. Safety is a priority.

Fun Fact – First job: Busser at a local restaurant in Dixon called Buds
Fun Fact – Who’s your hero? My grandpa, Rick

Miguel Sadler

Cal Poly, Class of 2020
Major: Construction Management

Originally from Pleasanton, Miguel loves to play baseball and spend time in the outdoors. He also plays the piano and drums, was in marching band in high school, and is currently teaching himself guitar.

What excites/motivates you about the construction industry?

I’ve always been interested in how things work, why they work the way they do, and how they were built. As a kid, I even built my own desktop computer. I want to be the kind of guy who doesn’t need to find anyone else to fix anything — I can find a way to do it myself.

Also… Construction is so necessary! A lot of work goes into the infrastructure for someone to live in their own house or work in an office building and for our society to run properly.

Fun fact – Favorite food? Venezuelan Empanadas
Fun Fact – First job: Sales Associate at Tilly’s
